THE
TEAM

Crazysoccor is a tabletop game that was developed as a group project during my time at Northeastern University. We simplified the traditional rules of soccer games and designed a fast-paced, well-balanced multiplayer experience. As the sole game artist on this project, I was responsible for all aspects of the visual design. This role was both a challenge and a learning opportunity, allowing me to refine my ability to balance details with the overall composition throughout the design process. I ensured high-quality artwork while maintaining a cohesive visual style for the game.

Six player cards are arranged in sequence, and then the corresponding action cards are executed in order.
VERSION ITERATION

Version_1
The first version of the design was created within a relatively short timeframe. My initial goal was to convey a simple and elegant visual style. However, after completing the player cards, I realized that the design of the player cards and action cards felt disconnected, failing to effectively capture the dynamic energy of the sport. After consulting with my teammates, I decided to retain the design of the player cards and instead focus on refining the design of the action cards.
In this version, the design of the soccer field reflects my internal dilemma at the time: should I use more details to enhance the atmosphere, or should I maintain elegant and minimalistic lines, allowing the field to serve as a subtle background? This kind of contradiction is common in design. Personally, I believe that while the second version leans more toward conveying the atmosphere of a soccer field through additional details, the final presentation remains distinct from a design that was intended to be highly detailed and realistic from the outset. Players might subtly sense that beneath the lively background, my initial pursuit of simplicity and elegance still lingers.

Version_2
In the second version of the design, I had three main objectives: 1. Enhance the layering of card designs, 2. Establish a unified overall style, including color and design language, and 3. Highlight the game’s sense of vitality by incorporating energy-related elements. Through continuous adjustments and group feedback, I ultimately presented Version_2. I believe this version offers a more commercialized visual appeal and greater artistic tension. Compared to the first version, it represents a comprehensive improvement, effectively achieving the goals I initially set.
For the color scheme of the action cards, I incorporated more red, complemented by black, white, and gray to enhance depth. This color choice was inspired by the palettes commonly seen in sports products. Limiting the number of solid colors was intended to emphasize the core visual prominence of the player cards.
